About The Author

Meet Martha Amdeselassie Jembere, a full-time mother, part-time Registered Pharmacist Intern, Level IV Medical Interpreter, Science Researcher, and Meskel Ancient Ethiopian Restaurant owner. She established the Sunday Afternoon Community Gathering program at her local church. Her journey is marked by resilience, triumph over adversity, and a grateful heart. From surviving a car accident as a refugee to experiencing bigotry, racism, and being chased by the KKK to receiving many deep acts of generosity from strangers and acquaintances, Martha's experiences have shaped her into a compassionate, truthful, and resolute individual. Her story is a testament to the strength and the power of defining oneself amidst life's contrasts.

What drives me to ultimately write and publish a book? While there are many inspiring books and stories out there, this has been a nagging question of mine for many years. I wasn’t persuaded to write a book and release another new book to the market simply because I wanted to, but I eventually felt compelled to do so for a variety of reasons, including:

It’s past time to support storytelling diversity; fighting stereotypes in storytelling too.
It’s time to talk about the triumph of good over evil, which exists not just in fairy tales but also in genuine stories.
Finally, while this is my tale, it involves many excellent people with high deeds, values, and beliefs who have inspired and affected me to my core. As a result, the purpose of my book is also to leave a legacy of goodness and gratitude for all of these beautiful and outstanding human beings.

To those who are curious about how my logo, The Green Heart, came to be: It indicates a signal to proceed, similar to a traffic green light, signifying Go ahead and love; Go ahead and be yourself; and, of course, Go ahead and cherish your God-given gift, which is only within your reach and no one else, and no permission is required from anybody. What a blessing!
